When we first decided to go to Thailand, we expected to be there by now, but the Lord helped us to see that it would be better to delay our departure for a month. Now, since we are still here, we are blessed to be attending Faith Camp, this year being held on the grounds of Upper Columbia Academy. What a blessing! If you can’t be there in person, you can watch live on Mission TV, and you can view the archives on the Faith Camp web site.
Last evening, Jon Wood (director of Jesus for Asia), presented some sobering facts about how much mission work there is yet to be done. I used to think that most of the mission work/evangelism that needs to be done can be done by locals / nationals. However, I have been learning here that there are perhaps thousands of people groups in which there are no locals who understand the gospel. There is truly more than enough work for every dedicated person who can go to work in the harvest field.
David and Becky Gates shared last evening and this morning about communities in the highlands of Bolivia that are begging for us to provide health workers and people to provide “moral education” in the schools. In at least one case there is already a clinic building just waiting for people to use it. Perhaps the Lord is calling you to answer this call.
A big thank you and praise to the Lord for the support you have provided to make it possible for our family to go to Thailand. We are getting close to the goal of $30,000 for launching expenses. You might be interested to know that the Lord is making it possible to purchase some medical supplies, books, and other materials to take with us. It also appears that a way has opened to get those materials into Thailand duty-free. Praise the Lord!
Of course, there will be needs for ongoing monthly support for the work for the Karen people. Please ask the Lord to guide you how you can help our family in this work.
