It’s hard to believe that as I write this you are (I hope) sleeping. Anyhow, it’s about 3:15 on Sabbath afternoon and we have been greatly blessed so far. Our Sabbath started with worship in the chapel on Friday evening. As always, worship was started with several songs. (I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of hearing these young people sing.) I had the privilege of playing the keyboard — something that brings back memories of playing the piano at our home church in Washington. The worship talk was given by one of four young people that are visiting us from Chiang Mai. Then we were blessed with several special numbers from the teachers and students.
This morning, things started up again with worship at 5:30 am. The worship talk was an excellent presentation about the frontal lobe. That finished, we found several little boys on our porch wanting us to put band-aids or poultices on their many cuts and scrapes. We affectionately call them the “band-aid boys” now. :) Next we enjoyed a good breakfast of fruit, rice, soy milk, pancake-like things that I managed to make yesterday, and a little bit of granola that someone gave us. Wish you all could have had some; it was pretty good. :) Church was next. I had the privilege of singing a couple of songs with the choir which was a little challenging due to the words being written in Karen. We managed to get a little bit out of the sermon since the power point was in English. Sabbath School followed immediately after, and just as we were breaking for classes Dad came back from a quick trip to the house and told us that a friend of ours was up at the house needing some minor medical treatment. That sent Mom and Thara Mu Gayle up the to house for a few minutes. Back at the chapel we enjoyed a bilingual class given by one of our Bible teachers. As soon as the classes were over we came back together for each class to sing a song and recite their memory verse.
That concluded things at the chapel for a little bit, and in just a few minutes a group that included Mom and Sharon went to conduct a “branch Sabbath school” at a church member’s home. The rest of us rested for about an hour before heading back to the chapel for a Bible game led out by one of the young people from Chiang Mai. That got out just shortly before the branch Sabbath school group got back.
It’s been quite a day, and we’re looking forward to more blessings. Now we are only a few minutes away from going to AY. Dad will be telling a story for part of it, and our family plans to sing a song at the end of his story. Supper, our second meal of the day, will be just after that. And we’ll have to see what the evening brings.
Thank you so much for all of your prayers on our behalf. We feel our need of them more every day.
I hope you all had a happy, refreshing Sabbath!
