School starting in May? Yep. While the rest of you are gearing up for graduation and a nice summer break, our break is over. The good part is that the hot/dry season is over as well. But with another rainy season also comes the beginning of another school year.

So though we can’t say how this school year will end, we can say for sure that it has begun. The chapel is FULL for morning and evening worships. The kitchen crew is making more food than it has in a long time. The sound of children’s voices is almost constant (other than night time).

With over 260 students, and about 100 of those being new students, we are bursting at the seams. Now if this gives you any relief, just over 30 of those are day students so we only have around 230 in the dorms. (Did I say only?) That’s at least fifty more than we had in the dorms at the end of last year.

It is a little overwhelming sometimes to know how to handle such a group, but God has provided. We were able to put the boys in our vocational training center so the girls can now occupy both of the falling-apart bamboo dorms. Filling all the teaching positions was also a challenge, but God has provided in amazing ways.

One of the teachers that God has provided is Tim Price from MT who is here for a few weeks. He has been a huge help by taking on the ninth and tenth grade math and our vocational computer classes. We also praise God for his willingness to take care of other little projects that we have a hard time finding time for.

Probably the most exciting thing was seeing each of the students that were baptized last March come back to school. Some of them faced tremendous opposition from their families, especially when their new faith kept them from participating in some of the Buddhist ceremonies that were taking place while they were home. Some of them now wish they stood stronger than they did, but we are encouraging them to not give up. God will help them to continue growing stronger. Let’s pray that their commitment stays strong.

Please keep us in prayer as we seek to provide the best possible program that will give these students an education and lead them to Christ.
