Preparing to Prepare

Eight students with the “end” in sight. So many possibilities and so many needs. Looking back, it seemed that there was no place to send our students for more training once they finished here. So year by year we added another level of training, all the while wondering when and how our dream would come true–our dream to give our tenth grade graduates a training that would equip them to serve God and their people.

Now we’re just shy of one month from graduation for our first tenth grade class. With the grade system here, this is considered the same as high school graduation. They have years of education behind them, but there’s so much of life ahead. Where God will lead each of them in the coming years we don’t know, but they’re bound to have plenty of opportunities to serve Him.

In many villages there are calls for teachers to use their empty schools. In other places they’re waiting for someone to come teach them about God. Countless villages are without medical help. Each one is in need of a Christian that will come and live the gospel. But how will they meet these needs if they aren’t trained?

As you probably guessed, if you didn’t know already, we’re planning on doing something about this need. Eleven months of training with the goal of equipping them to live lives of service to meet the various needs in this world. Bible, natural remedies, massage, midwifery, medicines, how to have Godly marriages and raise children, teacher training, agriculture–these topics are a large part of the training they will receive. We really can’t give them every thing that they could possibly need, but by connecting them with God and doing our part, we trust that they will find themselves equipped to better serve the people around them.

Sometimes is just seems like a dream that we’ve dreamt too long for it to come true. But when God says it’s time, what can hold us back? Things are falling into place. Teachers are committing. Doors are opening. Students are counting on it. The needs for workers are growing by the day. We believe that now is the time for this dream to become reality.

Our goal is to prepare these young people for a life of service. We have very little time to prepare for this work of preparation. Plans have been made, but nothing is sure until it happens. So we’re asking for your help. We need your prayers. Perhaps you have resources that will fill some of the needs for this program, or you yourself are one of the teachers that we need. We appreciate your interest and help no matter how small or big it may be. We’re just simple human beings in need of God’s help and yours. Let’s do all we can to prepare these young people to share the light of the gospel in this dark world.
