• Dorms Nearing Completion

Posted on July 30, 2014 by HarveyS in Uncategorized.

Praise the Lord, the construction of our dorms is nearing completion. Progress has been slow recently in the rainy season, but we are eagerly looking forward to the day when the girls and boys can move into better living quarters.

Here is a glimpse of the girls’ dorms at this point (you can barely see the top of the roof of the second building behind the bathhouse):

Here is a front view of the first dorm building:

And here is a better view of the second dorm building:

Each bathhouse provides for bathing (in the front center area), toilets and sinks that face each side, and a laundry drying area in the back half):

And here is the bathing area, with long reservoir tanks:

In case you didn’t see it before, here is a view of our boys’ dorms (of the same design):

We want to praise the Lord for the donation from The Lemon Tree (a charitable foundation based in Singapore) for donating US$80,000 toward the girls’ and boys’ dorms. We have used about 95% of these funds to get to this point, and we still have the following items to complete:

    • Wash and seal (with an epoxy-type paint) downstairs concrete floors
    • Plumbing, water storage, and rain gutters (to take advantage of clean rainwater for bathing during rainy season) [This part is the main reason we haven’t moved the students into the dorms yet.]
    • Sidewalks around dorms and to connect with bathhouse
    • Install electrical in girls’ buildings

Your generous donations will help us complete these steps as quickly as possible.
