Little boys and bandaids — I don’t know what it is about little boys and bandaids, but our little boys come faithfully whether they really need them or not. So Sharon and I are getting lots of practice putting charcoal or clay poultices on the serious wounds and putting hydrogen peroxide and a bandaid on the not-so-serious wounds. Then we will eventually just clean the mostly healed wounds and tell them they just need to let the air and sunshine do the rest. Also, what is interesting is that while we are treating one little boy, the other little boys will go into the house and get the Bible story books and bring them out on the porch and look at all those interesting pictures. I love their giggles and expressions.
Now let me tell you about Moo Wah Wah. She is a little four year old girl who has a lot of independence and spunk!! She seems to know what she is doing and she keeps herself very busy. One day, she decided that she would spend the day with us. So up our steps she climbed and went right into our house. At her request, Principal Harvey (Thara Joh Koh) pulled out a children’s Bible story book. So onto his lap she climbed and sat down. She sat quietly at Thara Joh Koh read the story to her in English. The story over, down she went, out the door, down the steps, and to a small tree with edible leaves. She busied herself picking leaves, then went to pick some wild flowers. Just a little bit later, she bounded up the steps and gave each one of us some leaves to eat and puts some wild flowers in our hair.
As I was doing my lesson plans, she quietly came over and got my empty cup, ran to the back of the house to fill it up with drinking water and came right back it to me. She made everyone else had water before she headed back down the steps to get more leaves and flowers. As she was picking, she cheerfully sang her little Bible songs. Then up the stairs she went again, took my empty cup, filled it, and placed it next to me. She then set her cup next to mine, and before I knew it, she was dipping water from her cup into mine then from my cup to hers and so on. By that time, I had decided I wouldn’t drink my water. That was okay, because I was enjoying watching her play, or at least until one of the cups got knocked over and spilled all over my books. Oh well, we quickly got a towel to dry things up. After playing with the water for sometime, she quickly went into the house, got a stool, and brought it outside. She then set her cup, my cup, and another cup on it. She was having fun till one of the cups crashed onto the floor and the water spilled all over the floor. At least it didn’t get my books that time.
After awhile Thara Joh Koh needed to take two empty five-gallon water jugs down to the church. Just as soon as she saw him leaving, she ran to him, took one the jugs, and carried it all the way to the church. Now she is not much taller then that five-gallon jug, so seeing was her carrying it was rather cute. About the time they got back, the dinner bell rang, so she followed us to get our food, came back with us and ate with us. Well, apparently what she got was not enough. We had extra rice at home, so we gave her a little rice with soy sauce. It wasn’t until we had repeated the process a couple of times that she was finished eating. Soon it was time to go to evening worship. So we all ended the day together at worship. What fun it was to have her around!
Now I am sure you would all understand if I said that I had a little “shadow,” but we don’t just have shadows. We have shadows because of all the sunshines that follow us around. Wherever we are, wherever we go, there are always little people there to brighten our lives. . .
