This week I began “teaching” English to grades 1 to 4. Last term, which ended a month ago, these grades were taught by a retired lady who lives in this area. However, near the end of the term, she told me that she could not continue teaching and also care for her ailing mother. We had hoped that one of a few leads we had would result in a teacher who could take her place, but to no avail.
On the one hand, I was eagerly looking forward to the interaction with the students, and I am sure there will be many positive results from my time in the classroom. The reality is, however, that I am simply too overwhelmed to carry out my duties as principal and also be a full-time teacher. If the proverb that says “a job worth doing is a job worth doing well” applies here, it seems to me a bit much for one person to be principal of a school with as much as is going on here–and be one of the two main English teachers. Both responsibilities warrant a person’s full-time attention–especially if you are still learning how to teach English as a foreign language.
If there is even a possibility that the Lord may be calling you–or someone you know–to help us teach English, or perhaps to teach one of the vocational subjects we are aspiring to offer our students, please take a deeper look at our Personnel Needs page.
