Ever have trouble staying awake once you get up in the morning?
Now I have to tell you that I am an early riser, but sometimes my body doesn’t quite agree that it is supposed to wake up so early. I’ve actually considered taking a bath (cold, of course) to help wake myself up in the morning. Things are usually okay though as long as I stay focused.
However, this morning was a bit different story. I had only been up for 20-30 minutes when I headed back to the restroom. But before getting there, I have to go through the kitchen. I would usually just use my flashlight, but this time I turned on the kitchen light, and–SURPRISE!!! I was staring at the only snake that we have ever seen in this house! First thought, just let it go so I don’t wake everyone else up. Second, I don’t really want to do this, and the machete is pretty close to the snake. Third, I’ve got to do something before the snake hides in our stuff! When I was pretty sure I could do it safely, I reached for the machete and began the attack. The first blow missed him. Then he jumped and so did I! When he started toward the outside door I tried again for his head, but he was too fast. Soon I could only see the tip of his tail going out the door to who-knows-where.
So next time you have a hard time waking up in the morning, you might consider living in a place like this. You might wake up to hear the nurse calling for things while she is delivering a baby in her truck just outside your window. Or you might get to help push start a truck that has a dead battery. OR you might get to see a snake!
Just part of a missionary’s life . . .
(Note: Sorry for the lack of a picture, but no one else was awake to photograph the event, so your imagination will have to do. :D )
