I’m sure some of you are wondering why we don’t write very often. The truth of the matter is there are many things we could write about. But somehow it’s usually only the really “big” things that get written about. So I’ll give a few details that we usually forget to mention.
About a month ago, a couple of people got hand, foot, and mouth disease. We were concerned that we might have an epidemic if we didn’t quarantine those who had it. Praise the Lord, that one didn’t turn out to be much of a problem at all, but over the last week we are now dealing with “pink eye.” So far, only five or six boys and one little girl have it. As you can imagine, they have very little concept of how contagious things like this can be, so the boys are stuck over in the vocational building to help keep it contained.
It’s really hard to believe that the end of the term is here already. We’ve passed our mornings using chalk and pencils for the last twelve weeks and now is the time to find out how much our students actually learned. As teachers we’re happy to be a little more free, but the students–we’ll just say they’ll be very happy when Thursday is over and, for many, when they are on their way home for a week.
The days are cooling down to a very comfortable temperature here now. But that means that the nights are getting cooler than comfortable. Funny thing is, when you feel really cold, you look at the thermometer only to find out that it’s only down to 65 degrees Farenheit. However, it was a lot cooler than that up in the mountains where the IMM (Intensive Medical Missionary) students and most of their teachers went camping this weekend. But I won’t say more about that since I didn’t go, and blog posts are sure to come.
And there is one more thing I must mention. Over the last couple months some students have said that they really want to be baptized and wondered when we would do Bible studies again. After a few delays, we finally started a couple of weeks ago, studying after evening worship on Friday, Sabbath, and Sunday. When we had more than sixty students (a good mix of baptized and non-baptized) at the first study, I was rather doubtful that those numbers would last very long, but the numbers haven’t slacked much at all! When I took a head count on Friday, we had forty students–and that was less than usual.
Please keep our students in prayer as they take final exams this week and especially those who are coming to the Bible studies or who should be. The Lord is doing amazing things!
